    A friend of mine who grew up in Norwegian pietism in MN once yold me, if you enter a room filled with pietists, you feel like you've entered the TWILIGHT ZONE. He dismisses pietism handily with "they have a flawed belief system."

    I despise pietism with all my being. For 8 years - and I'm embarrassed to admit it - I was scared by a "Lutheran" pietist church body. These people are cruel. They need to be sidelined ignored and sternly spoken to. If you're conscientious and sensitive, pietism will utterly destroy you. It is an out and out heresy. Don't belittle. Can't stand being around these smarmy self righteous prigs. I enjoy the company of decent people so much more even if they claim no Christian faith. Pietism is poison.

    A christian hanging out in front of a business that profits off of the torture of chickens and cows and has no sense of responsibility about the healtlh and well-being of humans either. Tries to addict kids to sugar, fat, and salt, to their detriment. If its all you can afford based on time and money, ok. But lets not act like we should be visiting these places by choice. The way people need to be manipulated and addicted and animals need to be tortured and slaughtered to get you your $1 burger is not worth it if you're a real Christian

    Deuteronomy 31:9-13 Then Moses wrote this law and gave it to the priests, the sons of Levi, who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and to all the elders of Israel. And Moses commanded them, “At the end of every seven years, at the set time in the year of release, at the Feast of Booths, when all Israel comes to appear before the Lord your God at the place that he will choose, YOU SHALL READ THIS LAW before all Israel in their hearing. Assemble the people, men, women, and little ones, and the sojourner within your towns, THAT THEY MAY HEAR and learn to fear the Lord your God, and be careful to do all the words of this law, and that their children, who have not known it, may hear and learn to fear the Lord your God, as long as you live in the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess.”

    Firstly, you are wonderful in your ability to explain the differences between the Lutheran and Roman Catholic communion. I am trying to better understand as many of these differences as possible to understand my husband and his relationship with his own faith. I was initially going to say that I wished you had been my confirmation teacher when I was younger and then I realized just how good a job my pastors from my youth had actually been as well. Thank you for helping me better understand what they were trying to teach that I simply didn't see then. I think they told me all of this and I honestly wasn't ready yet to truly get it. I'm not saying I yet have full comprehension, but you have helped me think more clearly on the matter. Heck, I think I have a better handle on what my dad was trying explain as well. Again, thank you. I hope you have a wonderful day sir.

    THE TESTIMONY OF YEHOVAH THE TRUE GOD IS, KNOWLEDGE, RIGHT, TRUE, SURE, TRUSTFUL, COUNSEL, DELIGHTFUL, REJOICING, LOVELY, HERITAGE WONDERFUL AND HOPEFUL AND SUPERION TO THE TESTIMONY OF ANY OTHER AND PREFERABLE TO ANY CONTRADICTING TRETIMONY OF ANY ONE Isaiah 8:13,16,20 ASV Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread. [16] Bind thou up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples. [20] To the law and to the testimony! if they speak not according to this word, surely there is no morning for them. 2 Kings 17:13 ASV Yet JEHOVAH TESTIFIED unto Israel, and unto Judah, by every prophet, and every seer, saying, Turn ye from your evil ways, and keep my commandments and my statutes, according to all the law which I commanded your fathers, and which I sent to you by my servants the prophets. Zechariah 7:12 ASV Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which Jehovah of hosts had sent by his Spirit by the former prophets: therefore there came great wrath from Jehovah of hosts. Nehemiah 9:30 ASV Yet many years didst thou bear with them, and testifiedst against them by thy Spirit through thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the peoples of the lands. Psalm 19:7 ASV The law of Jehovah is perfect, restoring the soul: The testimony of Jehovah is sure, making wise the simple. Psalm 93:5 ASV Thy testimonies are very sure: Holiness becometh thy house, O Jehovah, for evermore. Psalm 25:10 ASV All the paths of Jehovah are lovingkindness and truth Unto such as keep his covenant and his testimonies. Psalm 99:6-7,9 ASV Moses and Aaron among his priests, And Samuel among them that call upon his name; They called upon Jehovah, and he answered them. [7] He spake unto them in the pillar of cloud: They kept his testimonies, And the statute that he gave them. [9] Exalt ye Jehovah our God, And worship at his holy hill; For Jehovah our God is holy. Psalm 119:1-3,14,22,24,31,36,45-46,59,79,95,99,111,119,125,129,138,144,146,151-152,157,167-168 ASV Blessed are they that are perfect in the way, Who walk in the law of Jehovah. [2] Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, That seek him with the whole heart. [3] Yea, they do no unrighteousness; They walk in his ways. [14] I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, As much as in all riches. [22] Take away from me reproach and contempt; For I have kept thy testimonies. [24] Thy testimonies also are my delight Andmy counsellors. [31] I cleave unto thy testimonies: O Jehovah, put me not to shame. [36] Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, And not to covetousness. [45] And I shall walk at liberty; For I have sought thy precepts. [46] I will also speak of thy testimonies before kings, And shall not be put to shame. [59] I thought on my ways, And turned my feet unto thy testimonies. [79] Let those that fear thee turn unto me; And they shall know thy testimonies. [88] Quicken me after thy lovingkindness; So shall I observe the testimony of thy mouth. [95] The wicked have waited for me, to destroy me; But I will consider thy testimonies. [99] I have more understanding than all my teachers; For thy testimonies are my meditation, [111] Thy testimonies have I taken as a heritage for ever; For they are the rejoicing of my heart. [119] Thou puttest away all the wicked of the earth like dross: Therefore I love thy testimonies. [125] I am thy servant; give me understanding, That I may know thy testimonies. [129] Thy testimonies are wonderful; Therefore doth my soul keep them. [138] Thou hast commanded thy testimonies in righteousness And very faithfulness. [144] Thy testimonies are righteous for ever: Give me understanding, and I shall live. [146] I have called unto thee; save me, And I shall observe thy testimonies. [151] Thou art nigh, O Jehovah; And all thy commandments are truth. [152] Of old have I known from thy testimonies, That thou hast founded them for ever. [157] Many are my persecutors and mine adversaries; Yet have I not swerved from thy testimonies. [167] My soul hath observed thy testimonies; And I love them exceedingly. [168] I have observed thy precepts and thy testimonies; For all my ways are before thee. Deuteronomy 6:4,6,13,16-18,24-25 ASV Hear, O Israel: Jehovah our God is one Jehovah: [6] And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be upon thy heart; [13] Thou shalt fear Jehovah thy God; and him shalt thou serve, and shalt swear by his name. [16] Ye shall not tempt Jehovah your God, as ye tempted him in Massah. [17] Ye shall diligently keep the commandments of Jehovah your God, and his testimonies, and his statutes, which he hath commanded thee. [18] And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of Jehovah; that it may be well with thee, and that thou mayest go in and possess the good land which Jehovah sware unto thy fathers, [24] And Jehovah commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear Jehovah our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as at this day. [25] And it shall be righteousness unto us, if we observe to do all this commandment before Jehovah our God, as he hath commanded us. 2 Chronicles 23:11 ASV Then they brought out the king's son, and put the crown upon him, and gave him the testimony, and made him king: and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him; and they said, Long live the king. Psalm 132:11-12 ASV Jehovah hath sworn unto David in truth; He will not turn from it: Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne. [12] If thy children will keep my covenant And my testimony that I shall teach them, Their children also shall sit upon thy throne for evermore. 1 Kings 2:1-3 ASV Now the days of David drew nigh that he should die; and he charged Solomon his son, saying, [2] I am going the way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and show thyself a man; [3] and keep the charge of Jehovah thy God, to walk in his ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his ordinances, and his testimonies, according to that which is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest prosper in all that thou doest, and whithersoever thou turnest thyself; 2 Kings 23:3 AMP The king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD and to keep His commandments, His testimonies, and His statutes with all his heart and soul, to confirm the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people entered into the covenant. 2 Chronicles 34:31-32 AMP Then the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the LORD-to walk after (obey) the LORD, and to keep His commandments, His testimonies, and His statutes with all his heart and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant written in this book. [32] Further, he made all who were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin stand [with him, in confirmation of it]. So the inhabitants of Jerusalem acted in accordance with the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

    Anathema does not mean 'cursed to hell'. It means one has committed a grave sin that causes one's excommunication from the Church of the living God and His sacraments. 1 Cor. 11: 29, "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body." And what Body is that which we must discern? John 6: 51, "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." 'The bread that we must eat, which Jesus will give us- when will it be given to us?- and how?- it is His flesh that He gave for the life of the world on the cross, which is now His glorified body in heaven. Where Jesus, the Lamb of God, is offering His Body as the once for all propitiatory sacrifice for our sins to His Father. When we take communion, Jesus becomes one with us and we become one with Him. As Paul wrote, we are to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice- always- but especially at the sacrifice of the Mass, when our sacrifice is joined to that of Jesus and offered to the Father as a part of the Body of our Lord and Savior. Also read Ignatius and Justin. Ignatius was taught by John the Apostle who wrote John 6 and he did not explain the Eucharist the way Luther did. In fact, Luther was so accurate in his interpretation of the Eucharist that the vast majority of Protestants disagree with him. That's obviously some good interpretive fruit.

    I believe you are correct that we are living in the time when Satan has been let loose for a short while and his final take over or to reset Jesus as King of Kings. Thus the new world order because Jesus has been ruling for the past 1000 years and separating sheep and goats for the final judgment after the resurrection and judged on what you did in your life = either to life or everlasting death. Look you have been lied to about the life span = the scribes simply added a zero. so Adam live to 90 not 900 years. do you think Noah lived for 500 years with no children then all of a sudden had 3 sons just a few years before the flood. No Noah had his sons when he was 50 and lived another 35 years after the flood. They have lied about many things even tampered with the bible God's word. The superior word of God who is Jesus can't be tampered with or changed. so some people make up all sort of things about why they lived longer before the flood when all they did was add a extra number

    Being from the Northeast, the ECLA is the dominant Lutheran ‘church’, but they seem anything but Christian. When I think of them, I envision purple haired homosexual women preaching un-Christian doctrines in the name of “love”. In any case, there is no doubt that the ECLA has destroyed the “Lutheran brand” so to speak.

    I was raised ELCA and felt like I was constantly being watched and scrutinized by God. I was taught any suffering such as illness or injury was my fault because I sinned. I am still struggling with the idea that we don’t have to try every second to be perfect. I don’t believe this teaching came from our Church, I think it came from my mom who is severely mentally ill. I want to attend an LCMS church but the closest one is 2 hours away.

    I always have an automatic distrust of anyone who doesn't proport Sola Scriptura since coming back to the faith. It is exactly the kind of people who attacked Sola Scriptura (specifically in regards to Creationism) who caused me to walk away from the Faith Originally. I suffered so much because of my choices during that dark period. Sola Scriptura was the reason I came to the Lutherans, even many of the Protestants totally deny it these days.

    I would say immersion is much more preferable, both from the text and early church history, pouring being the back up mode when immersion isn't possible. As laid out in the Didache. But concerning baptism, thus shall ye baptize. Having first recited all these things, baptize {in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost} in living water. But if thou hast not living water, then baptize in other water; and if thou art not able in cold, then in warm. But if thou hast neither, then pour water on the head thrice in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. But before the baptism let him that baptizeth and him that is baptized fast, and any others also who are able; and thou shalt order him that is baptized to fast a day or two before.

  • @amandachilds5290
    @amandachilds5290 10 днів тому

    My answer is: Jesus Christ is an example and living parable BUT mainly Because in the natural, the world or earth was baptized with water when God came close to ending His creations, but He made a way and Jesus Ministry mirrors that even with the two by two and many other waya. Also, the Raven didn't do its job and roams to and fro, much like we read of Satan doing the same. The Dove brought the olive branch that is used for oil that consecrates and so the circle of ideas is a complete. It's similar to Moses wasn't supposed to strike the Rock because it was pointing to Jesus, in that same vein, Jesus had to be Baptized, and like a babe comes out of the water of the mom, He emerged ready to be given the spirit which was His anointing as Messiah but later He has a special oil anointing as High Priest. Anyhow, Holy Spirit descended upon Him to give back the Spirit of God that was once breathed I to Adam but lost by Adam. Jesus has to and had to fulfill all previous scripture because they are God's Promise and story ABOUT Jesus the Messiah and how we recognize Him. The Holy Spirit is likened unto a Dove, the Bride in Song of Solomon is likened unto a Dove and the motif is in other places of the Bible too. In the End , the world will be Baptized in Fire. Jesus Christ already did the Fiery Furnace turned up 7 times and the reciprocity then goes back to the Earth. It's a common precept that what happens in the natural has a counter occurrence or mirror occurrence in the spiritual, aka supernatural, and vice versa. Also, things tend to repeat for emphasis, as signs of completeness, and to clarify to the connectedness for the curious scholar. It is the glory of God to conceal a thing ...be a long and queen joint heirs in Christ and search it out, reveal it with study and prayer.

    I tell you one thing pastor that I never seen a bigger idolater than a greedy republican miser or a man on the pulpit that steals three million dollars from the lcms and that’s why I left.

    Acts 2:38 says that repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus Christ is for the remission if sins. Either we take this verse literally or we decide to interpret it to be a figuratively statement meaning other than what it literally says. John the baptist performing the prototype for christian baptism told the people repenting on the banks of the Jordan river to," Bring forth fruit meet for repentance". The word " meet", in the original Greek means," to do want accompanys, repentance . So repentance is incomplete unless demonstrated by water baptism. Water baptism accomplishes two things in the believers life: 1) Remove the guilt from wilful sin, because of the shed bood of Christ, which allows the Holy Spirit to inhabit the believer on a permanent basis . This is what remission of sins is 2) We take on the Bridegroom( Jesus Christ) name by it being called over us during water baptism.

    So why does the Bible say to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit but in Acts it says to be baptized in Jesus name ?? Kind of confusing.

    I guess some looked at me with a "whaat?" As a former Charismatic, I've used the sign of the Cross (right to left) for about 20 years. It's a beautiful, powerful gesture that's for all Christians, not only Catholic or Lutheran. I've been researching the beliefs of the Lutheran Church for a minute now and if there was a LCMS Church nearer, I'd probably convert. So far, these pastors have made more sense than the ones I've known in Pentecostal and Charismatic circles in explaining the Bible. Pastor Wolfmueller's explanations have brought understanding in some things that weren't addressed, let alone explained. Thank you Sir .
